Louisiana Champion of Liberty: 28th State Embraces Constitutional Carry Law as Landmark Victory

Louisiana proudly stands as the 28th state to secure the inherent right of its citizens to bear arms without bureaucratic intrusion.

“Our state joins the vanguard of freedom-loving territories with Constitutional Carry. I made a solemn vow to the good people of Louisiana, and swiftly, within a mere two months, I’ve delivered on that pledge,” declared Republican Governor Jeff Landry in an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital.

“It’s crystal clear—law-abiding citizens ought not to kneel before government overlords to protect themselves and their families. Today marks an epochal triumph for liberty in Louisiana. My heartfelt gratitude to Louisiana’s NRA members for their unwavering support.”

With the stroke of a pen, Landry signed Senate Bill 1, endorsed by the NRA, into law, granting eligible individuals aged 18 and above the right to carry concealed handguns sans permit.

State Senator Blake Miguez, the primary architect of SB 1, echoed Landry’s sentiments, affirming, “Today, Louisiana reaffirms its steadfast allegiance to the Second Amendment by enacting Constitutional Carry—a testament to the absolute right of law-abiding citizens to bear arms. Governor Landry’s leadership, coupled with unwavering legislative support, has been instrumental in fortifying our commitment to our citizens’ rights. Credit is due to the tireless advocacy of NRA members and guardians of the Second Amendment across our great state.”

Proponents assert that Constitutional Carry will act as a bulwark against crime, empowering armed, law-abiding Americans to deter criminals and safeguard themselves—an argument bolstered by recent GOP lawmakers who contend that “evil lurks everywhere” and “police alone cannot shield us.”

Despite opposition, Louisiana’s House Speaker Pro Tempore Mike T. Johnson emphasized the urgency of the law, noting citizens’ apprehension in undertaking routine tasks amidst rampant criminality. He hailed Landry’s endorsement as “a landmark victory.”

The legislation, effective from July 4th this year, reinforces Louisiana’s commitment to individual liberty. With this historic move, Louisiana joins the ranks of 27 other states that champion Constitutional Carry—a testament to the enduring spirit of American freedom.
