AJim Jordan, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is pursuing further investigation into an alleged bribery case involving Hunter and Joe Biden. He has requested FBI Director Christopher Wray to release a confidential informant file. This file, dating back to March 1, 2017, is believed to hold key information about a purported $10 million bribe from the owner of Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings to the Bidens
In his letter to Wray, Jordan, a Republican from Ohio, emphasizes the significance of this file for ongoing investigations into Hunter Biden’s international business activities and the impeachment inquiry against President Biden. The file in question is linked to a report from June 30, 2020, which suggests then-Vice President Biden’s involvement in a multimillion-dollar bribery scheme. Jordan has requested the document be submitted by January 19.
The 2020 file, previously released by Senator Chuck Grassley, contains allegations that the Bidens pressured Burisma owner Mykola Zlochevsky to pay them for influencing Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin’s firing in 2016.
According to a source, Jordan is prepared to issue a subpoena for the file if the FBI does not comply with the deadline. The 2017 file reportedly discusses Hunter Biden and plans for a Burisma executive’s visit to Washington, D.C. This information was unearthed during an interview with former Pittsburgh U.S. Attorney Scott Brady, who was investigating Ukrainian corruption.
The informant, considered highly credible, described multiple conversations with Zlochevsky around the time then-Vice President Biden was urging Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to remove Shokin, who was eventually ousted by Ukraine’s parliament.
Joe Biden, during a Council on Foreign Relations event in 2018, recounted how he threatened to withhold U.S. loan guarantees to ensure Shokin’s dismissal.
Documents also reveal Zlochevsky’s claims of having recordings and messages implicating the Bidens, although he denied sending funds directly to Joe Biden. Hunter Biden, who was a board member of Burisma from 2014 to 2019, is currently facing multiple federal and congressional investigations.
This request by Jordan adds another layer to the scrutiny of the Biden family’s foreign business dealings, with the focus on uncovering any potential unethical practices.
